The problem with the direct saving to the SD card is related to some restrictions that Google made in the 4. four Kitkat update. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done at the moment assuming the given circumstances. You could try writing to Google's support in order to complain about this problem so that they could remove this restrictions in future updates.
